Nakshi Border Work Saree
Code : P13603

A Nakshi border work saree is a traditional Indian garment celebrated for its intricate and artistic Naksha (pattern) designs that primarily adorn the borders and pallu. Originating from the rich folk heritage of Bengal, the term Nakshi refers to the ornamental motifs—such as floral vines, peacocks, lotuses, or geometric shapes—that are meticulously either handwoven directly into the fabric or hand-stitched using specialized techniques like Nakshi Kantha. These sarees are commonly crafted from high-quality natural fibres like soft hand spun cotton, pure silk, or Tussar, often featuring a contrasting border that frames a simpler body to emphasize the artisans skill. Whether utilizing the double-faced running stitches of Kantha embroidery that appear identical on both sides or the fine jacquard weaving seen in Bomkai or Banarasi styles, a Nakshi border saree serves as a unique piece of wearable art that can take weeks or even months to complete, making it a prized heirloom for festive and cultural occasions.
